Marty Recognitions

A plaque marks the spot where Marty made the first handheld cellular call in history on 6th Avenue in front of the New York Hilton Midtown on April 3, 1973. The plaque is just one of many being placed around the nation by volunteers at HereIsWhere.org.  The brainchild of the project, Andy Carroll, has chronicled his incredible journey across the United States to find and preserve unmarked historic sites associated with extraordinary individuals and pivotal events. See more of the Meet the Press interview with Andy and Marty about the site of the first mobile call and other historic places.
