“New Dimensions in Communications,” Motorola Communications Brochure including DynaTAC – 1973
Motorola’s Communication Division released the attached brochure that describes the radio communications systems they offered in 900 mHz radio spectrum. Product lines included in the piece include various types of dispatch systems, mobile (car) telephones and the DynaTAC 8000 “portable radiotelephone system.”
The brochure includes this rare definition of the name “DynaTAC:”
DYNA T•A•C stands for “Dynamic Adaptife Total Area Coverage.” It incorporates high power transmitters and receivers located in clusters of 4 to 6 in a perimeter around each transmitter. The network is interconnected to the land line telephone network via a computer.
